Week 07
Moving forward
with a driving passion is necessary for anything that you do in your lifetime. Having
a passion is beneficial to anything that you want to do in your life. The one
that resonates with me is being proactive. Being proactive is practicing and
continuing to improve. You cannot be idle during this life. If you want to do
something and have a true passion for it, it makes it easy to practice.
Practicing something regularly is the only way to get better at it. Enjoying
something makes it something that you do not dread doing, therefore you will
actively find time to do it. Not only will you find time to do it, but often you
will lose track of time when practicing or continuing to improve in your
passion. Along with that, time is a valuable thing in this lifetime, and we need to
use it wisely. Time is not something that we can go into debt for, and we
cannot get the time back. Mastery is something that is not going to happen overnight,
very similar to becoming a disciple of Christ. It takes time and continuous
improvement on our part. We also do not need to do it alone; we can learn and
teach each other. We were never meant to do it alone. We have leaders, family,
peers, friends, and most importantly Heavenly Father. We were all given strengths
and weaknesses so we can help each other to where and who we wanted to be. It is
going to be a process, and during that process, there are going to be big improvements. You
are also going to feel that you plateaued and not improving as fast as you want
to, this is part of the process. Just because you are not improving as fast as
you want to, does not mean that you should stop practicing and quit. "Pain
is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but
eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit,
however, it lasts forever." Lance Armstrong. There is also another quote from
a Marvel movie that says, “Pain only makes us stronger”. Both quotes are
basically saying that pain is necessary to improve, this includes both
emotional and physical. Pain, or feeling discomfort, is how we know we are
doing something right, being that we are pushing past our limits. This is
because if we don’t, we will never improve and stay on the plateau.
