Week 14

The semester has come to an end. It seemed to have gone by so quickly. Even if you are not going to be an entrepreneur, many things were beneficial in this class that you can use in your day-to-day life. One of the most important things I took from this class is that it is never too late to start to make goals and accomplish them. No matter how old you are, you can start anytime, you just do not want to wait any longer. You should always have a goal that you are working towards. With goals in mind, you can work on improving yourself. The thing about improving yourself is that it benefits you, and can also use what you have learned to help others improve and work on their goals. The other thing is you cannot wait for success to come to you. You must work for success, and it will not be an easy road to success. You are, of course, going to sometimes feel you are plateauing, going downhill, and the best part is when you are getting closer and closer to your goal. “Success isn't easy,...

Week 12

Change starts with one person; therefore, you can start with a small action to make a more significant change in the world. If you start with a small change, you can make a ripple effect. A ripple effect will change someone else’s life, which will make a positive impact. That person will positively impact another person; therefore, the ripple continues after that person and begins to create a more significant effect. You must believe that you can be the change in the world. Even if you are not changing the whole world, you can significantly change your community. Community is essential to the world; we cannot make a difference without community. Without each other, we cannot help; therefore, we cannot make a difference. Imagining if we were on a deserted island, we would not improve ourselves and be unable to enhance others. This is an essential part of creating Zion. “You have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion for reaching for the stars to change the world....

Week 11

This week was all about family and work balance. Family is something that I was taught to prioritize from a very young age. I was always the kid to pass up on friends' activities to attend family events. I may have wanted to be with my friends, but my family will be with me longer than my friends or career. Thinking about it this way, it's like which will please you now and make you happier later. These are not easy decisions to make, and they never will be. However, if you set your priorities and your integrity early on, you will not be caught off-guard by a hard decision you have to make. Akshay Kumar worded it best when she said, "Work is work, but family is for life. That's what really matters to me." This is how I can decide between family and work. If you could make time up, you could choose either. Time is a valuable resource. It is the most valuable resource on Earth. This is because you cannot get it back no matter what you do. You cannot go back to see ...

Week 10

Big dreams can mean so many things. We are taught as kids that we can be whatever we want. Now, that is true. There are still limits to what we can do. But we still have limits on what our dreams can be. You can dream as big as walking on the moon. You can even dream of doing something that has never been done before. No one walked on the moon before Neil Armstrong. Before that happened, it was thought to be impossible. Before it happened, there was an idea, a spark of innovation. Without dreaming big, nothing would be invented. Thinking about all the things we enjoy or use daily, without someone thinking outside of the box, those things would not exist without those people breaking out of the status quo. What is more limiting to your dreams is if you are desperate to please others or stick to the status quo. A quote says, “no need to think outside the box; simply realize there is no box.” The limitations are only limiting when you believe they are limitations. You must first unde...

Week 09

Learning how to contact people and researching the person before meeting with them will help you make the most out of the conversation. A beneficial conversation is not just in words spoken but also in your body language. How you present yourself will tell the other person if you are worth their time. People cannot read minds yet; seeing how you present yourself is the very first impression you give anyone. Not only for job interviews or any other professional setting, but this can also help you in your day-to-day life.                Asking appropriate questions and answering appropriately will help the conversation flow better and make the conversation more beneficial for your and the other person’s time. Time is not something you can get back or go into debt for, so using it in the most effective ways will make everyone happier in the long run. The people we can learn from and use as mentors have experience...

Week 08

Challenges will be in your life no matter what you do; some may have been avoidable, some may be caused by choices, and others may have happened no matter what. Overcoming them is a necessary thing to learn early on in life. Obstacles may never be fun; they will come and go no matter what. I will say the more significant the block, the more fulfilled I have been afterward. If you find a path without obstacles, you will not learn from it; that path probably does not lead anywhere. The most successful people you can think of had their share of obstacles to getting where they are and were today. Knowing that challenges are coming will make your life easier because you will be better prepared for them. It will never be perfect, but that does not mean you must endure it. As Gordon B. Hinkley said, “Life is meant to be enjoyed, not endured.” Paulo Coelho recognized this by saying, “To enjoy the rainbow, first enjoy the rain.” This makes a good point that you cannot just enjoy the bless...

Week 07

Moving forward with a driving passion is necessary for anything that you do in your lifetime. Having a passion is beneficial to anything that you want to do in your life. The one that resonates with me is being proactive. Being proactive is practicing and continuing to improve. You cannot be idle during this life. If you want to do something and have a true passion for it, it makes it easy to practice. Practicing something regularly is the only way to get better at it. Enjoying something makes it something that you do not dread doing, therefore you will actively find time to do it. Not only will you find time to do it, but often you will lose track of time when practicing or continuing to improve in your passion. Along with that, time is a valuable thing in this lifetime, and we need to use it wisely. Time is not something that we can go into debt for, and we cannot get the time back. Mastery is something that is not going to happen...
