Week 07

Moving forward with a driving passion is necessary for anything that you do in your lifetime. Having a passion is beneficial to anything that you want to do in your life. The one that resonates with me is being proactive. Being proactive is practicing and continuing to improve. You cannot be idle during this life. If you want to do something and have a true passion for it, it makes it easy to practice. Practicing something regularly is the only way to get better at it. Enjoying something makes it something that you do not dread doing, therefore you will actively find time to do it. Not only will you find time to do it, but often you will lose track of time when practicing or continuing to improve in your passion. Along with that, time is a valuable thing in this lifetime, and we need to use it wisely. Time is not something that we can go into debt for, and we cannot get the time back. Mastery is something that is not going to happen...

Week 06

You must set yourself up for success. Success in all aspects of your life, not just one area. This includes the Gospel, day-to-day life, career, etc. This requires balance in all areas of your life. You must start with the most important stuff and set your priorities. Everything else will fall into place if you prioritize the right things. Having support from God and your family should be important, therefore, they should be the ones you prioritize in your life. No one is going to want to help or support someone that they feel does not care about them. Even if you do care and you love them, showing that you do is very important. Prioritization is best described with a jar, sand, and rocks. If you put the sand in first, or what should be the less important things, you will have a hard time fitting the rocks in, or what should be most important in your life. Doing it the opposite way, you can fit more into your life. The support system you have is a two-way street, it is not one-sid...

Week 05

Having a reliable group of people that you can trust is important. This can help you throughout your life, career, and school. Having mentors as part of that group is especially important. They can teach you things that you would never think of learning. Mentors have more experience; therefore, they can teach you through those experiences. They can hopefully help you avoid mistakes that they made. A strong support system in your life can have many benefits. One of them is that you are more accountable. Especially if you tell them your goals, you are more accountable because you told someone else. You are more apt to do the things you want to accomplish. They can also be there through your struggles and help you through them. Your support system, especially your close support system, should be people you trust and that you feel are reliable. We will not get through this life alone. If you feel you can, that is quite a lonely road to walk. Helping each other is what we need to do. W...

Week 04

What we do in this life and the choices we make, are ours alone. No one makes the choices for us, and no one can force us to make specific choices. This is part of God’s plan, the whole reason He went with Jesus Christ, for us to have agency. What we do in this life is up to us. We should do what we love to do, not to please others. “Life is for living and working at. If you find anything or anybody a bore, the fault is in yourself.” — Elizabeth I. If we ever regret what we chose to do in our life, that is our fault and no one else’s. Our life is our own, and how we choose to live it is important, this includes what we do in and for our career. The question you should ask yourself before you choose to do something or find out what you want to do is, “Who am I and what kind of person do I want to be?” You should also include Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in the process, they know you better than you, and others know you. They know your talents, strengths, and weaknesses. They wi...

Week 03

Integrity is something we often oversimplify. Honesty is part of integrity but there is more to it than just that. When we live with integrity, President Spencer W. Kimball (1895–1985) taught that “integrity is the willingness and ability to live by our beliefs and commitments”. Although just because we believe something is right and we do it does not mean we are living with integrity. For example, if someone believes that stealing and lying is the only way to get ahead, would you believe they have integrity? Of course not. Our beliefs need to line up with God and His commandments. Employers are more apt to hire someone and keep someone with integrity than someone that is not. Same goes with employees, people do not want to work and follow someone that does not have integrity. Employees, clients, and anyone else you are working with and/or for want someone they know can be trusted. If you show your beliefs and integrity constantly you will never have to worry about people being wi...
