Week 08
Challenges will be in your life no matter what you do; some may have been avoidable, some may be caused by choices, and others may have happened no matter what. Overcoming them is a necessary thing to learn early on in life. Obstacles may never be fun; they will come and go no matter what. I will say the more significant the block, the more fulfilled I have been afterward. If you find a path without obstacles, you will not learn from it; that path probably does not lead anywhere. The most successful people you can think of had their share of obstacles to getting where they are and were today. Knowing that challenges are coming will make your life easier because you will be better prepared for them. It will never be perfect, but that does not mean you must endure it. As Gordon B. Hinkley said, “Life is meant to be enjoyed, not endured.” Paulo Coelho recognized this by saying, “To enjoy the rainbow, first enjoy the rain.” This makes a good point that you cannot just enjoy the blessings of an obstacle or trial without going through the block or problem. If you think about all the heroes, whether fictional or natural, they got to where they are by taking the problems they were given and learning from them. One of my favorite heroes is Black Widow, she had her fair share of obstacles, significantly growing up, but she learned from them and used her skills to help the world become a better place. Now, if you think about people in the real world, the people I think about most are the pioneers; they had their fair share of obstacles but never gave up. I know that if I work through my barriers, I can learn from them and become a better person, student, and peer.
