Week 11
This week was all about family and work balance. Family is something that I was taught to prioritize from a very young age. I was always the kid to pass up on friends' activities to attend family events. I may have wanted to be with my friends, but my family will be with me longer than my friends or career. Thinking about it this way, it's like which will please you now and make you happier later. These are not easy decisions to make, and they never will be. However, if you set your priorities and your integrity early on, you will not be caught off-guard by a hard decision you have to make. Akshay Kumar worded it best when she said, "Work is work, but family is for life. That's what really matters to me." This is how I can decide between family and work. If you could make time up, you could choose either.
Time is a valuable resource. It is the most valuable resource on Earth. This is because you cannot get it back no matter what you do. You cannot go back to see your daughter's recital that you missed because of work, and you cannot go back to work because you spent time with your family. Setting priorities early on will help you make those decisions when they come so that you will be less likely to regret those decisions later. This is how I can make that decision because family is who will be with you longer. Suppose you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; this priority is already set for you. Family is the center of Heavenly Father's plan, and if you want to get back to Him, family needs to be the center of your life too.
